Manage Stress and Overwhelm By Taking Microbreaks

It's not unusual for us to feel stressed or overwhelmed at some point during our day.

There are many simple ways to combat these feelings. Here are a few we love.

 

Disrupt Your Physiology

Stand. Walk. Drop and do ten pushups. Just move.

 

4-7-8 Breathing

Rest the tip of your tongue against the roof of your mouth, right behind your front top teeth.

1. Let your lips part. make a whooshing sound, exhaling completely through your mouth. 2. Close your lips, inhaling silently through your nose as you count to four in your head. 3. Then, for seven seconds, hold your breath.

4. Make another whooshing exhale from your mouth for eight seconds.

 

Get Grounded

Take your shoes off and put your feet on the grass, sand or in the ocean.

 

Share With a Buddy

When you’re feeling overwhelmed having someone you trust simply listen or provide a different perspective on the situation can be a huge help.

 

Mindful Anything

This is the simple process of actively noticing new things. Practice mindful eating once a day noticing all the sensations of the food. Practice mindful walking each time you move.

 

Practice Gratitude

Remind yourself of the things that you are grateful for. Write them down. Keep reminders close by at all times.
